Each PCA coaching engagement is tailored to the individual.
Change is almost always a driving factor behind why someone considers coaching. Coaching helps form new thinking patterns and behaviours that support the desired change. While a variety of coaching approaches will be used in any programme, it is our experience that the benefits of coaching come from regular sessions over an extended period. We therefore tend to engage with clients for a minimum period of 6 months.
Progress occurs during the coaching sessions but often to a greater degree in between coaching sessions. The duration of each session is not therefore the key determinant of success. So while we set up programmes with a recommended duration and frequency of coaching sessions, for example monthly, face to face meetings of around two hours duration, we also factor in email and telephone support between sessions.
For executives, coaching is a developmental activity. Additional support through the use of psychometric tools, online learning modules and progress tracking software, are designed to encourage behavioural change and personal accountability. The use of these additional tools and the timing of their introduction is introduced at the discretion of the coach in discussion with the client.
